A Wonderful Opportunity for Washington County's Music Students

The Washington Symphony's third annual Youth Concerto Competition will be held Saturday, December 12, 2009.

Students in grades 7-12, who are residents of Washington County, PA are eligible to audition.  The audition will consist of one movement of a standard repertoire piece for solo instrument and orchestra.  The student must provide an accompanist for the audition.  The student must play from memory--no transcriptions allowed!

The winner of the competition will play with the Orchestra on Saturday, February 13, 2010.  The winner must be available to rehearse with the Orchestra prior to the concert, at times determined by the Orchestra's Music Director.

The winner of the Washington Symphony Orchestra's third annual Youth Concerto Competition will be presented with a $250 check at the Symphony's February concert.

We encourage all eligible students to apply to audition.  Applications must be mailed, and must be postmarked by November 15, 2009.  The application form is available here.
