Washington Symphony Orchestra 2009--2010 Concert Season

Please join us for our new season as we continue our tradition of providing entertaining, informative and inspiring concerts for our community.

As you have come to expect, we have balanced our season with a blend of lesser-known, but beautiful, classical pieces and more familiar compositions with popular appeal.

October 10, 2009:  Fall Fantasies--visit a mystical world of elves, fairies and sorcery and listen to Mendelssohn's Overture to A Midsummer Night's Dream, Shore's Lord of the Rings and the Witches' Sabbath from Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique.

December 5, 2009:  Ho Ho Ho with the WSO--enjoy a classic and contemporary holiday celebration including selections from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite, Handel's Messiah, and Elfman's A Nightmare before Christmas, as well as our annual holiday singalong of favorite carols.

February 13, 2010:  Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves--enter the exotic and passionate world of exceptional classical music with guest conductor Roy Sonne of the Pittsburgh Symphony.  Selections include Rossini's Overture to the Thieving Magpie, Strauss's Gypsie Barone and Bizet's seductive Carmen.

March 21, 2010:  Mozart and Friends--our annual chamber concert features familiar classics from Mozart and others, and is directed by WSO Chamber Conductor William Galvin.

May 1, 2010:  All American--join us for our tribute to America and the iconic composers who capture its spirit, legacy and beauty through music.  The concert repertoire includes selections from Copeland, Bernstein, Gershwin and John Williams.

Each of our concerts is preceded by a 45 minute 'Conductor's Corner.'  Please come and learn more about the composers, performers and guest artists featured in the evening's performance.

All regular season concerts take place at Trinity High School and start promptly at 8PM.  The Chamber Concert takes place at First Christian Church, and starts promptly at 3PM.  Please check the individual concert pages for more information.

We look forward to seeing you at our concerts!
