Washington Symphony Orchestra 2008--2009 Concert Season
Please join us for our new season as we continue our tradition of providing entertaining, informative and inspiring concerts for our community.
As you have come to expect, we have balanced our season with a blend of lesser-known, but beautiful, classical pieces and more familiar compositions with popular appeal.
October 11, 2008: Young at Heart--Music inspired by children, including Prokofiev's beloved Peter and the Wolf, and Bizet's "Children's March" from Carmen
December 6, 2008: Ho Ho Ho with the WSO--popular and traditional favorites to celebrate the season, with a delightfully different WSO twist! We'll be playing "Winter" from Vivaldi's Four Seasons, and holiday favorites featuring Santa Elvis and his Mischievous Elves
February 14, 2009: Romance of Dance--Sensual to sizzling, we'll be performing the gamut of dance music, from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake to a favorite Johann Strauss waltz
March 22, 2009: Our annual chamber concert
May 2, 2009: Homegrown--Hats off to Western PA's musical talent, featuring local guest artists and composers such as Stephen Foster and Henry Mancini
Each of our concerts is preceded by a 45 minute 'Conductor's Corner.' Please come and learn more about the composers, performers and guest artists featured in the evening's performance.
We look forward to seeing you at our concerts!
