Young Artist Competition
For students in grades 9 through 12.
The WSO presents the Young Artist Competition each year. Instruments include brass, harp, percussion, piano, strings, and woodwinds. Students who audition will be asked to play one movement of a standard repertoire piece for solo instruments and orchestra. The competition is sponsored by Sheila Wexler, in memory of Dr. Isafore Wexler and Rella Blaustein Wexler.
Open to students who reside or attend school in the following counties: Washington, Westmoreland, Fayette, and Greene. Homeschool and cyber school students in these counties are also eligible.
Applicants must bring an accompanist to their audition.
The winner will be able to perform a solo with the WSO at the May concert and will receive a cash prize.
Applications are due March 6, 2026. The audition will be held March 19, 2026.
